Rebuilt MGB for Sale
If you are looking for a rebuilt MGB for sale, CCHL offers an alternative to buying an older MGB and gradually restoring it. Our cars are comprehensively rebuilt from the ground up, with attention given to the body, mechanical components, electrical system, brakes, suspension and interior.
The result is an MGB that retains the character and unmistakable appearance of the original British sports car while benefiting from an extensive rebuild.
Whether you are looking for an MGB Roadster, an MGB GT or want to discuss a particular specification, speak to us about the cars currently available and the options for your own rebuilt MGB.
Professionally Rebuilt MGBs
There is an important difference between an MGB that has received cosmetic restoration work and one that has undergone a comprehensive rebuild.
A fresh coat of paint can make an older car look impressive, but the condition of the engine, gearbox, axle, suspension, brakes, wiring, fuel system and numerous other components ultimately determines the ownership and driving experience.
Our approach is therefore to consider the complete car rather than concentrating only on its appearance.
Built from a Brand-New MGB Bodyshell
The foundation of our rebuild specification is a brand-new complete bodyshell. This provides the starting point for the car rather than attempting to conceal or work around decades of corrosion and previous body repairs.
The bodyshell is prepared, Waxoyled and undersealed before being professionally refinished in your chosen colour.
New exterior components are then fitted as part of the rebuild, including items such as bumpers, grille, mouldings, windscreen, seals, lighting components and, on Roadsters, a new vinyl hood.
Rebuilt MGB Engine and Drivetrain
The mechanical specification is just as important as the bodywork.
Depending on the individual specification, our rebuild programme includes a new or fully rebuilt unleaded engine, gearbox and axle together with rebuilt or renewed supporting components.
The specification also includes a new clutch assembly, stainless-steel exhaust system, engine and gearbox mountings, ignition components, hoses and other associated items.
This allows the drivetrain to be considered as a complete system during the rebuild rather than simply replacing individual components as they fail.
Brakes, Suspension and Steering
An MGB should be enjoyable to drive, which means the condition of its brakes, suspension and steering matters enormously.
Our rebuild specification includes extensive work in these areas, with components such as brake discs, pads, shoes, master cylinders, brake pipes, flexible hoses, shock absorbers, front calipers, bushes and track rod ends renewed or fully reconditioned as appropriate.
New tyres are also included within the comprehensive rebuild specification.
Renewed Electrical and Fuel Systems
Electrical and fuel-system problems can be frustrating aspects of owning an ageing classic car. These areas are therefore included in the rebuild rather than being treated as an afterthought.
The specification includes a new wiring harness, battery, cables, earth lead and associated electrical components, while the fuel system includes a new tank, pump, sender, filter and fuel pipes.
A Newly Finished MGB Interior
The interior of a rebuilt MGB should complement the standard of the exterior and mechanical components.
Our specification includes a new interior kit, carpet set and safety belts, together with a reconditioned dashboard and new or fully rebuilt leather seats. Door glass seals, Furflex and other interior finishing components are also renewed.
Choose Your MGB Colour and Trim
One of the attractions of specifying a rebuilt MGB is the opportunity to choose a car that reflects your own preferences.
Colour and trim can be discussed with CCHL, together with additional requirements you may have for the finished vehicle.
This means you are not necessarily restricted to finding an existing classic MGB that happens to have the combination of colour, interior and specification you want.
MGB Roadster or MGB GT?
The MGB was produced in both open Roadster and fixed-roof GT forms, and each offers a different classic-car experience.
The Roadster provides the traditional open-top British sports-car experience, while the GT combines MGB character with the practicality and distinctive styling of the enclosed fastback body.
Your choice will largely depend on how you intend to use the car and which body style you prefer.
Why Consider a Rebuilt MGB?
Buying a conventional classic MGB can involve considerable variation in condition. Two cars that look similar in photographs can have very different histories underneath the paint.
Previous corrosion repairs, ageing wiring, worn suspension, tired mechanical components and old interior fittings may all require attention after purchase.
A comprehensively rebuilt MGB offers a different approach: the major areas of the car are dealt with as part of one coordinated rebuild.
